Microsoft confirmed that the Web site for the British arm of its Microsoft Press unit was "briefly replaced by unauthorized content" on Monday.

"We have no reason to believe that this action jeopardized any customer data or sensitive information," a company representative said in an e-mail statement. "Microsoft UK quickly regained complete control of the targeted page and is investigating the incident."
