Microsoft on Tuesday announced it has closed its acquisition of privately held security company Sybari Software. The East Northport, N.Y., software maker's products were designed to work with Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes messaging servers. Its Antigen file-filtering software promises to fight off viruses and spam on networks.
Microsoft said it will offer a range of Sybari products for Windows, including: Antigen for Microsoft Exchange; Antigen for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server and Windows SharePoint Services; Antigen for Instant Messaging; Antigen for SMTP Gateways; Sybari Enterprise Manager; Advanced Spam Manager; Advanced Spam Defense; and Antigen for Domino on Windows NT. It will support the Sybari lineup predating the buy, but will stop selling Antigen tools for Unix and Linux.
