Verizon Communications on Tuesday said it will use Motorola technology to serve video to its fiber-to-the-home customers. The companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal.

Verizon is planning to offer video to its fiber customers next year. Verizon and the other Baby Bells are stepping into video as a way to compete against cable companies that bundle voice and broadband Internet into their TV programming. Verizon plans to reach at least 1 million homes this year and an additional 2 million homes in 2005 with its speedy fiber access.
