Cisco Systems, the largest U.S. communications equipment maker, on Thursday said it plans to buy security software maker Securent for $100 million in cash and assumed options.
Privately held Securent, based in Mountain View, Calif., makes software that helps companies secure and protect access to their data, communications, and applications. Securent has 57 employees, Cisco said. The company said it expects the deal, which would be its 125th acquisition, to close in the second quarter of its fiscal year 2008.
