Samsung Electronics, the world's largest memory chip maker, said on Friday it will spend $1.37 billion (1.35 trillion won) to upgrade semiconductor lines in 2008.

It told the Korea Exchange in a filing that the investment was decided at a board meeting.

Ok...so that's for chip lines. Any specifics as to which ones? Semiconductor? RAM?

What about LCD plants? Samsung looks like it's in trouble. Sharp and Toshiba are working on 10th generation LCD line investment plans. Samsung doesn't have a partner and REALLY needs one. Anyone know?... (Read the rest)
