Oracle and Fujitsu Siemens Computers announced on Wednesday a licensing deal that will give the latter's mainframe customers access to corporate information through Oracle's forthcoming Java-based application server.

The two companies said Fujitsu Siemens will replace its own Java server software, called OpenSEAS application server, with Oracle's Application Server 10g. The Oracle product is expected to be released as early as year's end. The two companies will integrate Oracle's Java application server with other OpenSEAS software to access Fujitsu Siemens mainframe data through Java programming. As part of the partnership, the companies will license and resell each other's software and will launch joint marketing programs.
