IBM said Tuesday it is setting up a center dedicated to radio frequency identification at its Yamato Laboratory in Kanagawa, Japan. The facility, which will be Big Blue's second globally, is targeted at manufacturers and retailers interested in RFID technology for product tracking and inventory control. Clients will be able to conduct simulation tests at the center.

According to IBM, additional RFID centers are set to open in Texas and in La Gaude, France, by the end of June.
