The on-demand service integrates Web, voice, and desktop video conferencing. Point-and-click commands allow moderators to deliver PowerPoint presentations, share and edit any document or application in real-time, and record meetings for later playback.
Among the new features in Genesys Meeting Center 3.0 is Desktop Meeting Launcher, an icon that users can download to their desktops or system trays to launch a meeting with just two clicks. This enables moderators to quickly start ad-hoc or pre-scheduled meetings directly from their desktops, without needing to launch their Web browsers and log into Genesys Meeting Center. Similarly, the new XPress Meeting feature allows moderators to share an application with meeting participants without having to launch their browsers.
Genesys Meeting Center 3.0 also features an updated interface that makes it easier for end users to locate all available meeting options, Genesys said. Enhanced scheduling functionality brings closer integration with Microsoft Outlook's calendar and support for recurring meetings. Enhanced meeting security enables users to opt for SSL encryption for all sessions.
For end users, the service requires only a Web browser. Moderators are required to download a small Java applet, plus a plug-in if they wish to share applications running on their systems.
Genesys Meeting Center 3.0 is available now, with users charged a flat rate of 32 cents per minute for any combination of Web, voice, and desktop video conferencing. Actual pricing can vary, Genesys said, as discounts are available for volume usage. A trial version is available for download.
