EAS 4.0 provides automatic, policy-driven archiving of e-mail, instant messages, and files. Once a company has implemented its information retention, management, and control policies, EAS 4.0 offloads Microsoft Exchange servers and file servers, a function that improves performance and availability, Zantaz said. The company also claimed that EAS 4.0's compression algorithms can reduce total storage requirements by up to 80 percent.
Version 4.0 features three new applications -- File Archive Solution, EAS Supervisor, and EAS Pre-Review -- designed to help organizations leverage archived e-mail and files for purposes such as regulatory compliance and litigation-related discovery.
File Archive Solution is a scalable application that enables companies to manage both e-mail messages and NTFS file systems using a single archive server. EAS Supervisor provides monitoring and control of corporate communications, ensuring compliance with supervision regulations such as NASD 3010 and NYSE 342.
EAS Pre-Review gives compliance officers a real-time review of communications such as e-mail and instant messages before they are sent. Potential policy or regulation violations are automatically flagged and quarantined in a manner that avoids workflow disruptions, Zantaz said.
Scheduled to ship this month, Exchange Archive Solution 4.0 requires Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 or 7.0 or Oracle 7.3 or later; and Windows 2000, 2003, or NT Server. Supported e-mail/IM systems include Microsoft Exchange 5.x, 2000, and 2003; IMlogic; FaceTime; and Akonix. Pricing is tiered based on the number of seats.
