Linux seller Novell has named William Hewitt, formerly a group vice president of global marketing at PeopleSoft, to be its chief marketing officer. Hewitt also worked at Hyperion Software and IBM, the Waltham, Mass.-based company said Friday.

Novell's former top marketing executive, Debra Bergevine, will stay at the company and take a new job to be announced soon, the company said.
