The IP 3000 Storage System offers virtualization, mirroring, host access control, and online capacity expansion. It guarantees data availability and accessibility by providing multiple physical mirrors and mirror management. Virtual point-in-time copies (or snapshots) allow backups, data mining, or application testing to be completed without impacting access to critical data resources.
The appliance relies on a graphical user interface (GUI) for system management. Included in the GUI are smart templates that enable users to rapidly create volumes even if they don't know the underlying data structures. Simplified capacity planning allows system storage to grow dynamically and be provisioned to hosts, without disrupting applications or users. The IP 3000's command-line interface enables users to create scripts for rapid, automated storage provisioning.
Intransa says it was able to reduce the cost and complexity of the IP 3000 by incorporating iSCSI interfaces, a standard Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure, and commodity technologies such as Ethernet switches and Cat 5 cabling.
The IP 3000 is available immediately at the list price of $32,000 for a 2-terabyte system, which includes hardware, software, and one year of support. Pricing for the 4-terabyte IP 3000 begins at $38,000.
