Multi-Tech Systems has announced a telephone- and T.38-compatible IP fax adapter for connecting an analog handset or fax machine to an Avaya Communications Manager network.

The MultiVOIP MVP130-AV-FXS Analog IP Adapter is a single-port device that connects to an IP network via 10/100 Mbps Ethernet and, using an FXS interface, to a handset or fax machine via a standard RJ11 connector. The device is designed to operate anywhere on an Avaya Communications Manager IP network where there is an available 10 or 100 Mbps Ethernet port.

Multi-Tech says it has seen the need in even the most sophisticated IP telephony network to connect a single legacy device here and there. This product turns that pre-VoIP fax machine into an Avaya IP device.

The single-port MultiVOIP MVP130-AV-FXS will ship in August and has a list price of $299.
