Yahoo on Wednesday named two former Kelkoo executives to help lead its European operations.

Earlier this year, Yahoo acquired Kelkoo, which was the largest online shopping service originating in Europe.

Pierre Chappaz, who was founder and CEO of Kelkoo, is now president of Yahoo Europe. Dominique Vidal, who was group managing director of Kelkoo, is now chief operating officer of Yahoo Europe. Prior to working for Kelkoo, Vidal was marketing director with IBM Western Europe.

Chappaz will also head Yahoo's Kelkoo shopping search engine and report to Senior Vice President John Marcom. Vidal will report to Chappaz.

Chappaz founded Paris-based Kelkoo in 1999.

As president of Yahoo Europe, Chappaz will look after product, marketing and technology initiatives in the region, while Vidal will be in charge of daily operations in 10 European territories in which Yahoo and Kelkoo operate. Overture will continue operating under its current management structure in Europe, Yahoo said.

This week, Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo reported tripling its quarterly profits compared with the same period last year.
