Silicon Valley venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers on Thursday appointed Randy Komisar as its latest partner. Komisar was a founder of software maker Claris, and later became CEO and president of Lucas Arts Entertainment and Crystal Dynamics. Komisar is currently serving as a board member for digital recorder maker TiVo.

"Randy offers entrepreneurs a wealth of experience and judgment in building ventures, together with passion and enthusiasm for developing talent," Kleiner Perkins partner John Doerr said in a statement. The firm did not disclose which industries Komisar will focus his efforts on.
