Search giant Google is offering customers of AdWords, the keyword advertising program, a new way to manage their accounts.

On Tuesday, Google notified AdWords customers in an e-mail that they could help test a new beta application, called AdWords Editor, which is designed to make handling ads easier. Made for users with large accounts, AdWords Editor aims to simplify locating and editing keywords, finding specific campaigns, and cutting and pasting text ads, according to Google's e-mail.

"As part of our ongoing effort to improve your AdWords experience, we'd like to invite you to try AdWords," Google said in its e-mail. "We're currently offering this beta program only to a select number of AdWords advertisers."

AdWords allows advertisers to bid for the rights to certain words or phrases that generate ads for their companies when they are entered in Google's search engine.

AdWords is one of the main revenue generators at Google, which reported last month that it had $1.29 billion in fourth-quarter revenue. The company is constantly searching for ways to make AdWords more attractive to advertisers, said Richard Holden, director of product management at Google.

"We're continually trying to innovate," Holden said. "We want to make it easier for advertisers to use (AdWords), and this is just another tool we're providing them."

To help discover new applications for AdWords, Google released its application development tool last year. However, AdWords Editor was developed in house, Holden said.

A Google spokesman declined to give specifics on when the AdWords Editor would be widely available on a wise scale.
