Select NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC news items will now be available for download via Apple Computer's iTunes, NBC said this week. The downloads will be priced at $1.99 each. Available programs will include historical news footage, programs and documentaries, as well as current pieces created specifically for iTunes, NBC said in a statement. Certain NBC television programs have been available on iTunes since 2005.

In addition to current items, NBC will be releasing historical content from its "time capsule." The famous "Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Tour" from February 1962 and the "Martin Luther King Jr.: Look Here" interview from 1957 are now available. Also included are Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" pieces; Tim Russert's "Meet the Presidents" series, as well as select "Meet the Press" episodes; and some Brian Williams' documentaries. This is the first news organization to offer downloadable news content via iTunes, according to a statement released by NBC News President Steve Capus.
