Electronic Arts and Hasbro on Friday said they have made a licensing agreement to create electronic versions of some of Hasbro's most popular games, including Monopoly, Scrabble and Yahtzee. Under the agreement, which runs through 2013, Redwood City, Calif.-based Electronic Arts will hold worldwide rights to create the digital games for electronic devices, including mobile telephones and over the Internet.
"Our toy and game brands have been family favorites for decades, and aligning ourselves with EA will result in broadening the reach of our brands," Brian Goldner, Hasbro's chief operating officer, said in a joint company statement. The first games are to be launched in 2008. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
