Best Software on Monday released SalesLogix for Pocket PC, a mobile version of the company's SalesLogix 6.2 customer relationship management (CRM) solution.

Designed to give mobile workforces access to their desktop CRM data, SalesLogix for Pocket PC enables users to manage their accounts, contacts, opportunity data, and service tickets. It provides access to SalesLogix tables, extensions, pick lists, and customized fields, and promises to minimize data entry via its visual drag-and-drop calendar and support for one-tap dialing (on smartphone models).

The software also integrates with Pocket Outlook and allows users to create dynamic contact groups on the handheld.

Built on Microsoft SQL Server CE and the same .Net framework as the desktop version, SalesLogix for Pocket PC is both scalable and customizable. Using visual drag-and-drop design tools or Visual Studio .Net development tools, companies can create industry- or customer-specific workflow for mobile users, Best Software said. Because SQL CE is resident on the Pocket PC device, users have full access to data even when a wireless connection isn't available.

SalesLogix for Pocket PC requires 3MB of RAM (plus another 5-10MB for an average-size database) and supports both Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003 handhelds; the company recommends the latter for optimal performance. The software can synchronize with SalesLogix 5.2, 6.0, 6.1, and the latest version, 6.2, which was released in July. Pricing for SalesLogix for Pocket PC starts at $295 per user; SalesLogix 6.2, at $795 per user.
