Summer soap opera: The 'Smart' age
It’s been pretty quiet in the smartphone release mill lately, in preparation for the summertime blitz of new phone launches - to be led off by the Palm Pre. Following the Pre will be the third-generation iPhone, Samsung's Google Android-based i7500, and Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. That means more competition in pricing (more crowded market = thinner margins), hardware features (more OSes in the game) and carrier plans.

Palm Pre has a date and a price
Larry Dignan: Sprint Nextel and Palm have made it official: The Pre is landing June 6. The highly anticipated phone will be available in Sprint Stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack and a few Wal-Marts for $199.99 with a two year contract.
